Level's Guide to Moving With a Pet

At Level Hotels & Furnished Suites, we know that moving with a pet can be very stressful. After all, pets are members of our families, and we want to ensure they are safe and comfortable during the potentially overwhelming moving process. Level can help you do that with our pet-friendly accommodations! To help you out even more with the process, we have put together this guide to help make your move with your furry friend as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Before the move

Before you move, there are a few things you need to do to ensure that your pet is ready for the journey. First, ensure that your pet is up-to-date on all their vaccinations and has had a recent check-up with their veterinarian. You may also want to consider getting a health certificate for your pet, especially if you are moving across state lines or internationally, and any other necessary paperwork.

Next, make sure that your pet has proper identification. This means ensuring that your pet's collar has their name and your contact information on it and that their microchip information is up-to-date. If your pet doesn’t have a microchip, we recommend looking into it!

When it comes to packing for your pet, be sure to bring plenty of their favorite toys, bedding, and food. Familiar items will help them feel more comfortable in their new surroundings. Bring a few treats and a portable water bowl for the trip, too!

During the move

During the move itself, it's important to keep your pet safe and secure. If you are driving, ensure your pet is in a carrier or secured with a seatbelt. This will help prevent them from becoming injured in the event of an accident. If you are flying, check with your airline to find out their specific rules and regulations for traveling with pets.

When you arrive at your new home, it's important to take some time to help your pet adjust. This may mean setting up their bed and feeding area in a quiet room away from the chaos of unpacking. You may also want to consider using pheromone sprays or diffusers to help calm your pet's nerves.

It's also important to explore your new neighborhood with your pet. Take them on a walk around the block to help them get acclimated to their new surroundings. You may also want to locate the nearest pet store and veterinarian in case of any emergencies.
